La ofensa sexual entre la razón y el corazón: una mirada desde los procesos cognitivos y emocionales

La investigación en la dimensión cognitiva y emocional de la etiología de la ofensa sexual evidencia una prominente escalada en las últimas tres décadas. Sin embargo, el objetivo específico del presente artículo de reflexión es develar los manifiestos excesos, contravenciones, ausencias y necesidades en el desarrollo y tratamiento de los constructos convergentes en ambas dimensiones. Para esto, se explicará en primera instancia de qué manera inciden los procesos cognitivos en la comisión de ofensas sexuales; luego, se procederá a explicar cómo dicho tipo de actos pueden explicarse a partir de las teorías de las emociones; y, finalmente, se intentará establecer una propuesta interpretativa del problema que contemple tanto a lo cognitivo como a lo emocional, así como aspectos fundamentales para la comprensión de la ofensa sexual. Por tanto, se concluye que es necesaria la construcción de nuevas y mejores teorías que articulen emociones y cogniciones para una adecuada explicación de los móviles del ofensor en la comisión de delitos sexuales.
