It is based on the belief that knowledge of social facts –such as crimes and infringements–, victims and perpetrators and state formal and informal control mechanisms are essential to achieve effective results in both decision-making and any academic studies, investigations and research carried out.

Objectivity and thoroughness are a prerequisite in the quality of any information published in this journal, while welcoming diversity of thought and constructive discussion, with ethical conduct and best practices support. Meeting the requisites of excellence with respect to validity, trustworthiness and objectivity is a constant for statistic information on crimes and violations, since this information is a fundamental variable in the production of scientific knowledge.

Disclosing the operative results of the National Police of Colombia is essential because, as already stated, this information is a fundamental variable in criminology, particularly for the evaluation of the State’s action vis-a-vis crime figures reported.
