Medo ao crime e os meios de comunicação: uma revisão da literatura

Resumo

Revisa-se a literatura sobre a categoria "medo ao crime", com o objetivo de compreender a associação entre o crime e os meios. A metodologia focou-se em rever nas três últimas décadas, a temática do medo ao crime, e obtiveram-se resultados nas três tendências identificadas: medo ao crime associado à cobertura midiática; o medo ao crime, a percepção do risco e da vitimização, e os estudos sobre o crime, a imprensa e as diferentes olhadas em Ibero-América. Baseado em duas teses, adota-se uma posição: que o medo ao crime é um efeito negativo dos meios, e que o medo ao crime, a percepção do risco e a vitimização têm em comum que o crime ameaça a sobrevivência. Conclui-se com a proposta de avançar na linha de responsabilidade social dos meios e na integração das abordagens e dos modelos mencionados.
